ESI Training
Early scent introduction (ESI) is a training program for puppies designed to enhance their ability to identify, and react to, specific scents. Each day we introduce a strong scent to the puppy for brief intervals, and records the puppy’s reaction. The reaction is considered to be positive when the puppy shows interest in the scent, moving toward it. A negative reaction is recorded when the puppy tries to get away from the scent. And finally, when a puppy is neither interested nor disinterested in the scent, this is a neutral reaction.
For practical purposes, these results mean the potential for even better companion, service, and therapy dogs. Scent abilities are often very important. All these skills enhanced by ESI. Of course, not all dogs are going to be service or therapy animals. At Colors Couture Frenchie's , we perform the Early Scent Introduction on our puppies because we understand how important a dog’s sense of smell is to him and his brain function.

Puppy Socialization
From day 16 until the day the puppy goes home, we work daily on socialization with all of our puppies. We strive to raise puppies that are well adjusted and exposed to as many situations as possible. The puppies are “loved on” by people of all ages. We even introduce our puppies to our cats and French Mastiff! Our sensory training also begins at 4 weeks. The puppies play in an area where there are many new sights, sounds, colors and textures. This encourages the puppies to investigate their surroundings and challenge themselves. We constantly change textures the puppies feel with their paws and introduce the puppies to slight stressors and other challenges. We do this in an effort to create a well rounded puppy that is ready to explore new environments with confidence.
